πŸ§› Down the TBR Part 24 πŸ§›

Sheesh I don’t know what happened this week. I’ve joined a workout/nutrition accountability group and it’s been hard to work that into my routine along with everything else! It also didn’t help I was going to sleep before 8pm every night. ONE DAY I will figure out how to stay up like an adult. One day.

So I chose the vampire emoji today because 8/15 books we are looking at today are vampire books! I loved Crave recently, so maybe I’ll find another series to keep!

We are starting at 1790 books. Let’s see where we end!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

Obsessed by Susan Andersen

An ER physician stalked! It’s two of my favorite things – medicine and crime! Not that I do crimes. I just like reading them.

Marked by PC Cast and Kristin Cast

I had this marked as read, but I have zero recollection of it. Apparently I read it 4 years ago. It sounds good, so I’ll give this series a go.

Body Work by Fiona Brand

A novelist doesn’t know where her inspiration came from – real life events she has blocked. Now the killer wants to silence her. Yesssss.

Lust by Violet Blue

Set of sexy short stories. I’m remembering this for when I have my next slump!

✘ What I Deleted ✘

Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris

Sookie Stackhouse #4. I’ve read the whole series previously!

What Stella Wants by Nancy Bartholomew

It’s listed as romance/mystery, but just didn’t catch my attention.

The Silken Web by Sandra Brown

Sounds too much of a chick lit romance.

You’ve Got Male by Elizabeth Bevarly

The synopsis was a little weird. Seems very chick lit.

Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom

I’m not a huge fan of his. Just not my style.

Well we are ending at 1782! Slowly but surely making it through the pile. I’m excited for the new vampire series I found. I hope it lives up to my expectations! I will say they are high after reading Crave!

What did you think of my choices? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments below!

πŸ‘© Down the TBR Part 23 πŸ‘©

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! I am so excited to spend the day with my son. He will be three on Tuesday and I just can’t believe how fast time is flying!

Today we’re starting the TBR at 1800. I keep adding more books! I can’t help it, they all sound so good! Hopefully we can weed some out today!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

A Crack in Forever by Jeannie Brewer

This isn’t something I’d normally keep, but the MC is a doctor, and it;s written by a doctor, so I’ll give it a go.

Tending Lives by Echo Heron

I love nonfic about nursing. Love it!

✘ What I Deleted ✘

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Real by Neta Jackson

I’ve deleted the rest of this series.

Being Elizabeth by Barbara Taylor Bradford

The synopsis just didn’t grab my attention.

Fat Tuesday by Sandra Brown

Just didn’t sound like something I’d enjoy. A cop goes after who he thinks is a crooked lawyer.

The Witness by Sandra Brown

Another legal drama that just seems eh.

Leaving Normal by Stef Ann Holm

Just seems too chick lit for my tastes.

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

Removing because I’ve read it already! It’s been a while, but the longer the series went on the less I liked it, so I don’t think I’ll do a reread.

Club Dead by Charlaine Harris

Sookie Stackhouse #3

We got down to 1792! It helps that I read a series I still had listed as ‘Want to Read’. We still have a long way to go but I’m so excited to weed out all these books I won’t read!

What did you think of my choices? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

πŸ€” Down the TBR Part 22 πŸ€”

Another week to clear this forever long TBR! I did go an make sure a lot of my arcs were on my TBR, so we’re starting at 1794, which is more than last week. Let’s get right into it!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

French Silk by Sandra Brown

I’m kind of a sucker for stories set in New Orleans. Plus this is a woman who is falling in love and trying to prove her innocence but has secrets she has sworn to take to the grave!

The Chamber by John Grisham

I said I didn’t like legal thrillers, but this is set in MS. And I’ve read another Grisham book and liked it, so I’ll give this one a go.

A Time to Kill by John Grisham

Another legal thriller, but this is also set in MS and by Grisham so I’ll give it a try.

It’s Not Easy Being Green by Jim Henson

I got this book when I graduated nursing school as a gift. I should probably read it.

✘ What I Deleted ✘

Texas Heat by Fern Michaels

I’ve deleted the others in the series.

Pursuit by Karen Robards

The synopsis just didn’t stick out to me.

A Whole New Light by Sandra Brown

Just very chick lit romance. Eh.

The Crush by Sandra Brown

The synopsis seemed kind of convoluted, so I feel like the story may be the same way.

Unspeakable by Sandra Brown

A psychopath escapes prison and tries to kill a deaf mom and her kids. No thanks.

Smash Cut by Sandra Brown

Not a huge fan of legal thrillers, and this is like a mix of that and a normal mystery with some romance thrown in? I’m going to pass.

We are ending the TBR at 1788. Not too bad! I’m so ready to get through all these books and get a true TBR!

What did you think of my decisions? Would you have made any different ones? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

😷 Down the TBR Part 21 πŸ˜·

I hope everyone is staying safe out there! I’m still working a reduced schedule, which I love! I don’t know what I am going to do when I go back to working full time. I have gotten so much reading done! I am for sure going to miss by 12-4 hours.

This week, we are starting the TBR at 1785. I am going to do a quick one today, looking at 10 books. My toddler is occupied for now, but I never know how long that’s going to last.

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

The Nosy Neighbor by Fern Michaels
This one seems cute, along with some intrigue! I’ll usually give it a chance if the FBI is involved.

Hot Ice by Nora Roberts
This one sounds so good! I love a romantic suspense.

✘ What I Deleted ✘

Seasons of Her Life by Fern Michaels
This one is just too chick-lit for me.

Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts
This one just didn’t catch my interest.

Black Rose by Nora Roberts
This is book #2 to Blue Dahlia.

Texas Rich by Fern Michaels
I thought I already deleted this from my TBR. I know I deleted the others in the series.

Texas Heat by Fern Michaels
Maybe I deleted books 3 and 4. I know I deleted Texas something!

Private Scandals by Nora Roberts
This one also sounds super chick lit.

Listen to Your Heart by Fern Michaels
Another super chick lit romance.

Kentucky Rich by Fern Michaels
I am fairly certain I have deleted the other books in this series.

I ended this one pretty well. Only kept 2/10. We are ending the week at 1778! I am going to go through and make sure all my ARCs are on my TBR, so the number may be a little different next week!

What did you think of my selections? Are there any I should have kept? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time….

adult, book meme, book tag, contemporary, Romance

Down the TBR Part 20

Ah! Part 20 of my down the TBR! I’ve reviewed way more than 200 books, but this is really helping me get a true TBR. Today we will go through 20 more books that I added on July 15, 2015. I feel like this is gonna be a good one. Plus, I will finally get below 1800 books! Woooo!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult
This has everything I usually hate! Chick lit, Amish, adult fiction. But for some reason this just sounds so good! I have to give it a try.

Mercy by Jodi Picoult
Mercy killings are a hot topic, one I love to discuss. I can’t turn a book away with that topic!

About Face by Fern Michaels
Super cute cover. Doctor MC. Memory loss and a mystery. I’m all about it.

The Third Circle by Amanda Quick
I’m pretty sure I added the other books in this series.

Charming Lily by Fern Michaels
I went back and forth, and at the last minute decided to give this one a chance. It’s set in Mississippi and seems like it might have a good mystery.

✘ What I Deleted ✘

Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult
This one just didn’t grab my attention the way Plain Truth did. It doesn’t seem like something I’d enjoy.

Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult
This one seems way too romance-y, chick-lit for me.

Snow Angels by Fern Michaels
This is a book of four novellas. The reviews weren’t great and it didn’t really grab my attention, so I’ll pass.

Weekend Warriors by Fern Michaels
#1 in the Sisterhood series. Something about these books just makes me cringe and makes me feel so uneasy.

Lethal Justice by Fern Michaels
Again, #6 in the Sisterhood series

Fast Track by Fern Michaels
#10 in the Sisterhood series, and I remember deleting others in this series.

Razor Sharp by Fern Michaels
#14 in the Sisterhood Series.

Texas Fury by Fern Michaels
#3 in Texas series. The synopsis did not make me want to go and read the first two.

What You Wish For by Fern Michaels
I don’t know why I have so many by Fern, but most of her works just do not entice me.

The Scoop by Fern Michaels
Another very chick lit book. This just screams something that my mom would read. Or my Meme.

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Removing this ONLY because I have read it before. It was before the movie came out. I remember seeing the movie and being SO pissed at the ending. This is a great book, though.

Pretty Woman by Fern Michaels
The synopsis just didn’t call to me. Very chick lit.

Kentucky Heat by Fern Michaels
#2 in the Kentucky series, and I’m pretty sure I deleted the first one.

Fool Me Once by Fern Michaels
Another very chick lit read.

Serendipity by Fern Michaels
I just couldn’t even get into reading the synopsis.

This was a pretty good turnout! I deleted 15 books, bringing my TBR to 1785! I have deleted so many since starting this. I still have a long way to go, but it is still so satisfying. I only have 35 books left from July 15, 2015, so I’ll probably cover all those in the next post! I’m ready to move on from this day. I think it’s taken the whole month!

What do you think of my choices? Were there any that you would have kept or deleted? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

adult, book meme, book tag, contemporary, Memoir, Romance

Down the TBR Part 19!

Sheeeeeesh have I been in a funk this week! Zero motivation to do anything blog related. However, I have finished 5 books this week! You’ve seen reviews for We Didn’t Ask For This, Girls with Razor Hearts, and Ghosted in LA. This week be on the look out for reviews for Crave and Open Fire!

This will probably be a short one. Like I said, just in a blah mood. I also just started Red Hood by Elana K Arnold and Deny Me by Karen Cole and I can’t wait to dive further into them! I’m reading Red Hood for a book discussion over at Words & Whimsy!

We are starting the TBR at 1811. Let’s see where we end!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah
I know I am going to sob while reading this, but it sounds so good and heartbreaking. Plus, I love memoirs.

✘ What I Deleted ✘

The Pact by Jodi Picoult
I just can’t with kids dying – even if they are teenagers.

The Prodigal by Beverly Lewis
Number 4 in an Amish series…

Picture Perfect by Fern Michaels
This was listed as romantic suspense, so I thought I’d be here for it. However, the reviews were awful so I think I’ll pass.

Irresistible by Susan Mallery
Number 2 in a series and also serious chick lit.

Vendetta by Fern Michaels
Number 2 in a series about a group of women who get revenge on those who have wronged them. I mean, normally I’d be up for trying, but something about it is just off-putting to me.

Dream of Me by Fern Michaels
A book of two contemporary adult romances. Just not my style.

Kentucky Sunrise by Fern Michaels
Book 3 in a series. I’m just not interested in reading about a romance based around the Kentucky Derby.

The Sacrifice by Beverly Lewis
Book 3 in another Amish series.

Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer
I know I’ve read this. And I’m not deleting it because it’s Twilight. I’m removing it because I have fond memories of this series and want them to stay that way. I’m afraid of a reread.

Wow, this one ended up being pretty good! I deleted 9/10, bringing my TBR to 1802! So close!

What do you think of my selections? Did I make a mistake? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

πŸ“š Down the TBR Part 18 πŸ“š

Another week! I haven’t gotten near as much reading done as I wanted to, but as I settle into a new routine I’m hoping that I can! Mostly it’s if I can stay off Animal Crossing and my kid lets me…

Let’s get to clearing this tbr! We are starting at 1825. I may do a few extra books today to try to get under 1800! Let’s do this!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

Matters of the Heart by Danielle Steel
I am here for obsessive love and sociopaths.

Emergency Doctor by Edward Ziegler and Lewis R Goldfrank
I think I’ve read this one before. But I love true medical stories. Helps to remember why I chose this profession because some days, especially lately, I really wonder.

Breathe My Name by RA Nelson
I’ve been super into YA thrillers lately, and this one sounds amazing!

Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark
I love MHC. I read my first book of hers in ninth grade. I want to read all of her works.

Silent Night by Mary Higgins Clark
I’ll save this one for this year’s holiday season!

Ford County by John Grisham
This is a series of short stories all set in Ford County, Mississippi! I’m kind of a sucker for books set in MS.

Before I Say Goodbye by Mary Higgins Clark
Maybe I should buddy read some of these with my mom. I bet she’s read them all though.

Kitchen Privileges by Mary Higgins Clark
I love memoirs so of course I’d like to read about Mary!

When Chicken Soup Isn’t Enough by Suzanne Gordon
This is another book I think I have read but could stand a reread.

Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Isiguro
The synopsis of this kind of reminds me of Girls With Sharp Sticks. I loved that story so I definitely want to give this one a try!

Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
I think Chelsea is so funny, and I love books like this!

5th Horseman by James Patterson, Maxine Paetro
This sounds great. Mystery involving a hospital and angel of death. But does this series need to be read in order?

6th Target by James Patterson, Mazine Paetro
This one also sounds good. I may as well add the whole series…

✘ What I Deleted ✘

Til Death Do Us Part by Kate White
Good premise, but it’s a cozy and I have to really be in the mood for those. Plus it is #3 in a series.

A Place Called Home by Lori Wick
Girl gets death threats and moves to little no where town. But it’s not a mystery or thriller! It’s a chick fic.

A Song for Silas by Lori Wick
Book two from the series.

Bungalow 2 by Danielle Steel
A typical Steel novel, chick lit fiction.

Late Bloomer by Fern Michaels
I thought about keeping this one, but reviews were meh, so I decided to delete it.

The Rainmaker by John Grisham
I have to really be in the mood for a legal drama. They’re just not my jam.

The Brethren by John Grisham
Another legal drama.

Crown Jewel by Fern Michaels
Another chick lit that just doesn’t sound like it’s for me.

The Revelation by Beverly Lewis
We all know how I feel about Amish stories…

Cat and Mouse by James Patterson
I love FBI, but I’m not a huge fan of books like these. Plus it’s #4 in the series.

Roses are Red by James Patterson
Same as above, but this is #6.

London Bridges by James Patterson
Number 10 in the series.

Mary Mary by James Patterson
Number 11 in the series.

Whelp. That didn’t end how I thought it would. I kept way more than I thought. The most surprising were the James Patterson and John Grisham.

I’m ending my tbr at 1811. I was really hoping to make it under 1800. I may have to do a bonus post later this week!

What did you think of my choices? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

πŸ“š Down the TBR Part 17! πŸ“š

Hey guys! Another week gone by. Hope everyone is staying safe and social distancing!

These past two weeks have been so hard on me mental health wise. The stress of getting screened before work, work hours being cut, but still having to go because I’m essential. It’s all a lot. I haven’t read as much as I wanted, and I haven’t blogged as much as I wanted either. Hopefully soon I will get into the routine of a new normal (for now). It hasn’t all been doom and gloom, thought! I’ve gotten to spend a ton of time with my son and I am taking all I can get! He will be three in a few months and I just want to cherish every moment with him.

Anyway, to this week’s tbr! We are starting at 1843. I don’t think I added any this week! Probably because I haven’t been as active on here or twitter, haha! Also, my life has become consumed with Animal Crossing. Let me know if you want to be friends. I have peaches!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

Sizzle and Burn by Jayne Ann Krentz

This sounds like a spicy romance with a little bit of crime solving mixed in. And witches.

Night by Elie Wiesel

I think I’ve read this before, but I’ve always been drawn to books about the Holocaust. I’m not sure why.

Granny Dan by Danielle Steel

I’ll give this one a chance. There’s some historical romance aspects that are intriguing to me.

✘ What I Deleted ✘

The Extraordinary Adventure of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey

I love this cover, but the synopsis just isn’t speaking to me.

The Untelling by Tayari Jones

Eek. Just a little too chick lit for me.

Beneath the Surface by Anne White

A mystery, which I’d usually love. But something about it seems off-putting, I just can’t put my finger on what it is.

The Wedding by Danielle Steel

My mom loves Danielle Steel. I just don’t think I’m that into her work, though.

Nothing Can Keep Us Together by Cecily von Ziegesar

I hate I didn’t read these in my teen years. Now I just don’t know that I would like it.

A Painted House by John Grisham

I’m not sure I’ve ever read anything by John Grisham. This story just seems so… sad.

Playing for Pizza by John Grisham

I went back and forth with this one. It’s about a football player, which I think I would like. But moving to Italy and playing football there… I just don’t know about it.

Impossible by Danielle Steel

Just another typical chick lit romance.

Sisters by Danielle Steel

Another very chick lit read.

Coming Out by Danielle Steel

I mean, same as above.

Nobody Else Has to Know by Ingrid Tomey

I think I own this book from years ago. But it just seems so sad. It may be my headspace right now, but I just can’t do sad books.

Big Girl by Danielle Steel

Another typical chick lit.

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

I mean… it’s Nicholas Sparks.

A Bend in the Road by Nicholas Sparks

Again, Nicholas Sparks.

Family Blessings by Fern Michaels

Just another chick lit.

Amazing Grace by Danielle Steel

I almost kept this one. I may go back and add it. I can’t decide if it’s gonna be too chick lit or a good fiction novel.

Finders Keepers by Fern Michaels

This is about a two year old girl who was kidnapped. It’s just so sad. I can’t.

We are ending at 1826! So close to being under 1800! I only kept three, the most surprising to be the Danielle Steel novel.

Did I make any mistakes? Should I have kept any of these? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

adult, contemporary, fantasy, Romance, ya

πŸ“š Down the TBR Part 16! πŸ“š

Happy Sunday guys! I hope we are all social distancing and staying healthy!

I had planned to do a couple bonus posts last week, but work was crazy, I was tired, and it just didn’t happen. So today we will tackle the next 20 books from July 15, 2015.

We are starting at 1854, two more than last week. Not as bad as I thought! Let’s dive right in!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

Schindler’s List by Thomas Keneally

I feel like this is a classic and I’m not sure how I didn’t read it in school.

Day of the Dragon by Richard A. Knaak

I played WoW for so many years. I’d love to give the books a chance and learn more lore.

A Rose for Her Grave by Ann Rule

Ann, my queen. I love her and her true crime.

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

I’m a sucker for historical fiction set in Paris. I gotta have it!

A Bone to Pick by Charlaine Harris

Book 2 in the series. It’ll stay if I like book 1!

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

I swear I’ve read this before, but I don’t really remember. Plus, it’s part of a series and I know I didn’t read the others.

You’ve Been Warned by James Patterson

I’ve never read a Patterson book before. This sounds interesting so I think I’ll give it a try!

The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie

I love Hugh Laurie. Love. It’s only right that I read his book.

Hot Number by Carly Phillips

Doesn’t look like a book I’d normally read, but I can get behind a sporty romance. This is also book #2, so I added book #1

✘ What I Deleted ✘

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Down by Neta Jackson

I’ve deleted the rest of the series that was on my tbr. Just not the chick lit for me.

Gone by Lisa McMann

This is book 3 in a series. I read the synopsis for book 1 and it didn’t seem like something I would enjoy.

One Door Away from Heaven by Dean Koontz

I’m not a huge horror reader, and the synopsis didn’t grab me.

Damaged by Cathy Glass

I probably could have read this earlier in life. But I just can’t really read child abuse stories anymore – especially if they are true. It breaks my heart.

Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks

It’s Nicholas Sparks. Need I say more?

Perfect Match by Jodi Picoult

Another child abuse story. I just can’t.

The Covenant by Beverly Lewis

Another Amish fic.

The Betrayl by Beverly Lewis

Book two to The Covenant

Demon Seed by Dean Koontz

Another horror that I just don’t think I’d be a fan of.

The Other Side of the Story by Marian Keyes

Honestly, this seems like a movie I’d watch, but I don’t think I’d enjoy reading it.

Jake, Reinvented by Gordon Korman

A Great Gatsby retelling. It didn’t pique my interest.

Okay, I deleted 11, so that brings my tbr to 1844 since I added 1. I’m pretty happy with my results this week!

Did I make any mistakes? Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

Down the TBR Part 15

This book meme is currently active over at Zezee with Books. Here’s what you do:

“A meme where we decide whether to keep or remove books on our TBR.Β The rules: Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf. Order on ascending date added. Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Read the synopsesΒ of the books. Decide: keep itΒ or should it go?”

I’ve started doing this a little different. Same concept, but to cover more ground I’m going through one day at a time. Today we’ll examine all the books I added on July 15, 2015.

….Oof. Maybe not. So, I started getting all the books in a tab and it just kept going and going. Guys. I added 156 books that day! Whaaaat. That’s too many for one post. Cause I wouldn’t even want to read that. Let’s divide this up into a few posts. I’ll do 20 books this post, which is still kind of a lot, but I need to clear out this day! What was I thinking or doing? Lord.

Okay, so we’re starting at 1867. I’ve added a lot of arcs and books I found on other blogs. But maybe we can cut that number down!

βœ” What I Kept βœ”

βœ” Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

I have almost picked this book up many times. I need to get to it soon!

βœ” Creation in Death by JD Robb

This is #25 in the series, but it sounds so good. Do I need to read these in order? Can I commit to a 25+ book series?!

βœ” Salvation in Death by JD Robb

This one sounds good too! Please let me know if I need to read these in order.

βœ” The Stranger I Married by Sylvia Day

I love a good historical romance. This one sounds great!

βœ” Real Murders by Charlaine Harris

I love Charlaine, and I love a good cozy mystery.

✘ What I Deleted ✘

✘ Night Terror by John Passarella

I’m gonna get flack for this, I know. But I’m just not that into Supernatural anymore? Sorry, fandom!

✘ Before Sunrise by Diana Palmer

Just seems like typical chick-lit love story. Nothing jumps out at me.

✘ The Final Kill by Meg O’Brien

This one started off sounding great, but then it kind of turned into a political thriller so it kind of lost me.

✘ Free Spirit by Fern Michaels

Another chick-lit that isn’t sparking my interest.

✘ Wish List by Fern Michaels

Another chick lit. Honestly, these seem like something my grandma would read, which isn’t bad. We just don’t have the same taste.

✘ Dear Emily by Fern Michaels

Same as above.

✘ The Vampire Diaries books 1 & 2

I loved the tv show. The books? Not so much. One of the rare instances where TV was better than the original. I DNF’d book 1.

✘ The Vampire Diaries books 3 & 4

I couldn’t get through the first two soo…

✘ Irish Trilogy Collection by Nora Roberts

They all just seem typical love stories. Nothing sticks out at me.

✘ Birthright by Nora Roberts

It just sounded… eh.

✘ Born in.. Series by Nora Roberts

These all take place in Ireland, which is cool, but they’re all just romances. I usually need a little more than just a typical romance.

✘ Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts

Like the ones before, I guess. This sounded like it had more action, but it still didn’t really catch my attention.

✘ The Dark City by Catherine Fisher

This is a YA series, but I’m just not really into secret relics and like, kind of historical science fiction? It’s kind of hard to explain, I just know this isn’t for me.

Horde by Ann Aguirre

Number 3 in the series, but the synopsis of the first didn’t really sound great.

Sara’s Song by Fern Michaels

This has a doctor MC, which is usually an automatic keep, but its just a weird love triangle. Which usually I like, but this one seems super weird.

So, here’s where we stand. I am ending the TBR at 1852. I deleted 15/20, so that’s not bad! I’m excited to do my next post! From what I have just glanced at, I’ll be deleting a lot from this day.

What do you think about what I kept and deleted? Did I make any mistakes? Do I have to read the JD Robb series in order? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…
