🧛 Down the TBR Part 24 🧛

Sheesh I don’t know what happened this week. I’ve joined a workout/nutrition accountability group and it’s been hard to work that into my routine along with everything else! It also didn’t help I was going to sleep before 8pm every night. ONE DAY I will figure out how to stay up like an adult. One day.

So I chose the vampire emoji today because 8/15 books we are looking at today are vampire books! I loved Crave recently, so maybe I’ll find another series to keep!

We are starting at 1790 books. Let’s see where we end!

✔ What I Kept ✔

Obsessed by Susan Andersen

An ER physician stalked! It’s two of my favorite things – medicine and crime! Not that I do crimes. I just like reading them.

Marked by PC Cast and Kristin Cast

I had this marked as read, but I have zero recollection of it. Apparently I read it 4 years ago. It sounds good, so I’ll give this series a go.

Body Work by Fiona Brand

A novelist doesn’t know where her inspiration came from – real life events she has blocked. Now the killer wants to silence her. Yesssss.

Lust by Violet Blue

Set of sexy short stories. I’m remembering this for when I have my next slump!

✘ What I Deleted ✘

Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris

Sookie Stackhouse #4. I’ve read the whole series previously!

What Stella Wants by Nancy Bartholomew

It’s listed as romance/mystery, but just didn’t catch my attention.

The Silken Web by Sandra Brown

Sounds too much of a chick lit romance.

You’ve Got Male by Elizabeth Bevarly

The synopsis was a little weird. Seems very chick lit.

Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom

I’m not a huge fan of his. Just not my style.

Well we are ending at 1782! Slowly but surely making it through the pile. I’m excited for the new vampire series I found. I hope it lives up to my expectations! I will say they are high after reading Crave!

What did you think of my choices? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments below!

👩 Down the TBR Part 23 👩

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there! I am so excited to spend the day with my son. He will be three on Tuesday and I just can’t believe how fast time is flying!

Today we’re starting the TBR at 1800. I keep adding more books! I can’t help it, they all sound so good! Hopefully we can weed some out today!

✔ What I Kept ✔

A Crack in Forever by Jeannie Brewer

This isn’t something I’d normally keep, but the MC is a doctor, and it;s written by a doctor, so I’ll give it a go.

Tending Lives by Echo Heron

I love nonfic about nursing. Love it!

✘ What I Deleted ✘

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Real by Neta Jackson

I’ve deleted the rest of this series.

Being Elizabeth by Barbara Taylor Bradford

The synopsis just didn’t grab my attention.

Fat Tuesday by Sandra Brown

Just didn’t sound like something I’d enjoy. A cop goes after who he thinks is a crooked lawyer.

The Witness by Sandra Brown

Another legal drama that just seems eh.

Leaving Normal by Stef Ann Holm

Just seems too chick lit for my tastes.

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

Removing because I’ve read it already! It’s been a while, but the longer the series went on the less I liked it, so I don’t think I’ll do a reread.

Club Dead by Charlaine Harris

Sookie Stackhouse #3

We got down to 1792! It helps that I read a series I still had listed as ‘Want to Read’. We still have a long way to go but I’m so excited to weed out all these books I won’t read!

What did you think of my choices? Let me know in the comments below!

Down the TBR Part 13!

I’m so ready to trim the TBR again this week! The last two weeks I have added books to the tbr, so it really needs to get cleaned out. This meme is hosted by Zezee with Books. Here’s how it works:

The rules for Down the TBR Hole:
  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

Here are this week’s books. At first glance, there’s a lot of Christmas. I feel like I will get rid of a good many. I’m starting the week at 1934.

The Lost Gate by Orson Scott Card

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: YA fantasy, which is fun. I read some not great reviews. I love the cover, but I don’t think this one is for me.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

Wards of Faerie by Terry Brooks

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Another series in the Shannara Universe. I’ll keep for now, since I kept the others. If I don’t like them, I’ll come back and delete.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep.

Dark Bites by Sherrilyn Kenyon

  • Thoughts: Series of paranormal romance short stories.

The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Decked Out by Neta Jackson

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Number 7 in the series. I think if I don’t like the first I probably won’t like the 7th.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

Sisterchicks on the Loose by Robin Jones Gunn

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Another Christian Chick lit. Just not my cup of tea.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

The Christmas Blessing by Donna VanLiere

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Ok, surprise. I’m keeping this one for this year’s Christmas! The MC is a doctor. I can’t not keep it.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

The Christmas Promise by Donna VanLiere

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Christmas story about promises to each other. This one isn’t as enticing as the one above.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

The Christmas Secret by Donna VanLiere

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: This is about a woman who saves an elderly lady’s life, a man who is supposed to find her to reward her, and how they fall in love. Eh.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

The Christmas Note by Donna VanLiere

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Another elderly lady dies, and they find a note that reveals some family secrets.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

We are currently at 1927. I’m feeling frisky. Let’s do 10 more!

The Christmas Hope by Donna VanLiere

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Ugh. About a social worker taking in a kid for Christmas. My heart. I gotta keep.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Who Do I Talk To? by Neta Jackson

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: I didn’t keep the other Yada books, do I don’t think I’ll keep this one either.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Miss Julia Stirs Up Trouble by Ann B Ross

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: I deleted the other Miss Julia books. This is #14. I think I’ll delete this one too.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Sisterchicks in Wooden Shoes by Robin Jones Gunn

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: I deleted the other Sisterchick book above, so I’ll delete this one too. If I can’t read #1 I won’t be able to read #8 lol.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Sisterchicks Do the Hula by Robin Jones Gunn

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Same as above.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Angels at the Table by Debbie Macomber

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Christmas book about angels bringing two people together to love.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Black Hills by Nora Roberts

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like it might be good, but I don’t know if it’s enough to keep. Especially since I haven’t read her other works.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Stars Collide by Janice Thompson

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: About two actors who play a couple on screen but are actually a couple in real life.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

A Promising Man by Elizabeth Young

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Sounds like it could be a cute romance. I’ll bite.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep.

It All Began in Monte Carlo by Elizabeth Adler

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: I saw it was suspense, and thought ok. I can do this. But honestly, there’s A LOT going on in the synopsis and I’m just not up for that.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

We are ending at 1919! Only 20 books and we are under 1900! Progress, people! So, my biggest surprise was A Promising Man. I didn’t think I’d keep any of the second set of 10.

Only 123 books to go and we are done with everything I added on June 27! I don’t know why I added so many that day. Like, I wish I could go back to me then and ask myself what I was doing. Cause it’s causing me some headaches now.

I may do a bonus post later on this week. I am so ready to be under 1900 on my tbr and to have a true tbr! But I’ll also probably add any arcs I request or receive, so that will skew the numbers a bit.

Anyway, did I make any wrong choices? What do you think about these books? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

ARC, ya

August TBR!

Another month, another TBR!

This one is aiming high, I know. Also this month I HAVE to read King of Scars. I’ve put it off too long.

Thanks, giphy! Also, Latrice Royale for life ❤

So, most of these are ARCs that release this month. Wilder Girls and Spin the Dawn have already released, but they are club reads this month and I am super excited to dive in!

Nevernight is an older release. I started it, loved it, not sure why I never finished so definitely doing that this month.

King of Scars I haven’t read because I don’t want to be without a new Leigh book to read. Dumb, I know, but it is what it is. I’m doing it this month though!

Can’t wait to share all my reviews with you! What are you reading this month? Are we reading the same things? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time…
