📚 Down the TBR Bonus! ðŸ“š

Hey guys! I am deep into The Queen’s Assassin and loving it so far. Today I decided to do a bonus TBR and hopefully I’ll have my The Queen’s Assassin review tomorrow!

Today we are going to clean out all the books added on July 11, 2015. My TBR is starting at 1860 and we’ll be looking at 16 books!

✔ What I Kept ✔

✔ Hand of Fate by Lis Wiehl

I have book one on my tbr this month actually, so I’ll keep for now. If I don’t like book 1, I’ll come back and delete this.

✔ Heart of Ice by Lis Wiehl

Same as above. It stays unless I don’t like book 1 or 2!

✔ Dark Lover by JR Ward

Oh, boy. Here we go. So I was on the fence about this one, but then I saw that a ton of my friends rated this 4-5 stars. This has 19 books in the series, and I have 10 on my list for today. So I’ll just add them all below this one, and they stay until I don’t like them 🙂

The Rest of the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series on my TBR:
✔ Lover Eternal
✔ Lover Revealed
✔ Lover Unbound
✔ Lover Enshrined
✔ Lover Avenged
✔ Lover Unleashed
✔ Lover at Last
✔ The King
✔ The Shadows

✘ What I Deleted ✘

✘ Wake by Amanda Hocking

I was really on the fence about this one, but after reading some reviews I decided to skip. My late teens/early 20s would have been the time to read this I think

✘ Lullaby by Amanda Hocking

Book 2 of the Watersong series, so it goes too.

✘ Tidal by Amanda Hocking

Tidal rounds out the Watersong trilogy.

✘ Forgotten Lyrics by Amanda Hocking

A novella for the Watersong trilogy. #0.5

Well, I honestly thought that would go differently. I only deleted 4, so my TBR is at 1856. I didn’t expect to keep 10 out of a 19 book series so that kind of sucks. But they sound good and my friends liked them so we will see!

Have you read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series? Was it worth keeping? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

ARC, fantasy, ya

My First Arc Box. WHAT?!?!

Okay, so here I am. Just got home from the longest.day.ever. I notice a package by the front door. I don’t think anything of it, I’m supposed to get my Keurig descaler today so it will quit exploding my pods and I can drink coffee again. Imagine my surprise when I see THIS at the door!

Okay, this piques my interest. I knew I hadn’t ordered anything. That I could remember, anyway. So honestly, I figured it was something my mom was getting and having delivered to my house. I was just going to open and pretend like I didn’t know it was for me. (Sorry, mom!)

So, imagine my surprise when I open it and SEE MY NAME! (And yes, you can see my descaler that I did get in the background rofl.) So I immediately take a pic and start freaking out and opening the rest!

In this amazing box I got Crave by Tracy Wolff, a Crave travel mug (for that coffee I’ll now get to drink), a to-do (or to-kill?) list, temporary tattoos, hot cocoa, and caramel marshmallows! Now, let me tell you about this book that I am going to dive right into!

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait

– Goodreads

I cannot wait to read this! It’s been a good, long while since I’ve read about vamps, but my body is ready! I mean, who doesn’t love a sexy vampire?

Crave is released into the world on April 7, 2020. I’ll be starting this tonight and posting my review as soon as I finish.

Add Crave to your TBR here!

Preorder Crave from Entanged: Teen or Amazon!

A very big, special thanks to Entangled: Teen, Megan Beatie for this arc box. I am honestly so honored and so excited! Can’t wait to let you guys know what I think!

Have you heard the buzz about Crave? Are you adding it to your TBR? Let me know in the comments below!

January 2020 TBR

Hey guys! Here’s my TBR for January! I have two books off my TBR list, a libby book, some arcs and other ebooks to read!

I said I was going to try to read 15 books a month, so here is what I plan on reading! 11 are for Book Battle criteria, and four will count as freebies – if I read them before the 26th! That’s when Battle ends.

Book Battle Reads

Freebies

So far, I am only 43% into Grey. It’s one of my TBR books and my libby hold came in, so I wasn’t thinking it would be my first book of the year. So far I’m not loving it. Grey makes me aggravated with this thoughts. But I feel like I’m too far in to DNF. So a more thorough review to come when I finally finish it.

I have a blog tour coming up for Cub on Jan 6. Be sure to come back and check it out!

Halfway to the Grave was recommended to me by my friend and fellow Book Battle and Words & Whimsy modmin, Jordan. I’m excited to read it! She always gives the best recs.

My ARCs for this month are: The Weight of a Soul, Every Other Weekend, Cub, Second Star, Lost Boy, Don’t Read the Comments, The Weight of the Stars, Center of the Universe, You Too?, A Beginning at the End and Say Something.

Here are the Goodreads links to the books I plan on reading this month!

  1. The Weight of a Soul by Elizabeth Tammi
  2. Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine Frost
  3. Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson
  4. Cub by Cynthia L. Copeland
  5. Grey by EL James
  6. Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen
  7. Second Star by JM Sullivan
  8. Lost Boy by JM Sullivan
  9. Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith
  10. The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum
  11. Center of the Universe by Ria Voros
  12. The Wives by Tarryn Fischer
  13. You Too? by Janet Gurtler
  14. A Beginning at the End by Mike Chen
  15. Say Something by Cathy Morrison

Down the TBR Part 1

So I saw this over at Devour Books with Dana and thought it was a perfect idea for me. My TBR dates back to 2015 and has 1988 books on it. Yep. Almost 2K. Too many. My tastes have changed a lot since 2015, so time for me to go down the TBR and see what to keep and what to delete!

So here’s what you do. Go to your Goodreads TBR shelf. Sort in ascending order. Take the first 5, 10, however many books you decide to do. Read the synopsis. Decide to keep or delete.

I have a lot, so I’ll do 10 a week, every Sunday. I will also try to fit at least one from this list in my TBR each month, starting in January! Yay for fun challenges!

The Host by Stephanie Meyer

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: 100% added this because I loved Twilight around this time period. This still sounds good, but the 620 pages are a little daunting. It would be hard to read for a book battle.
  • Keep or Delete: I’ll keep. The synopsis still sounds great.

Hungry For Your Love by Lori Perkins

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This has super mixed reviews, but the prospect of zombie smut is somehow piquing my interests.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep – but reluctantly. I want to see what the zombie smut is about, but I’m scared this will be a DNF.

Hearts at Stake by Alyxandra Harvey

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like a typical teenager-turned-vampire story. Nothing in the synopsis stuck out at me and made me want to read it.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Micro by Michael Crichton and Richard Preston

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Parts of this sound great. The whole microorganisms appearing and trying to find a cure for them. But parts turn me off, like the robots, stuck in the wilderness. I don’t feel like there will be enough medicine/science/biology to keep me interested.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like a spinoff of Supernatural. MC finds her mom dead, hot brothers save her from demon, tell her she has to join secret society to help kill demons. Not really my cup of tea anymore.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Storm of Visions by Christina Dodd

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Eh. Sounds like a typical PNR series. Boy sees girl. Boy wants girl. Girl says no, finds out boy is paranormal, ends up saying yes. Plus there’s some bad reviews that are kind of turning me off.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

The Painted Man by Peter V. Brett

  • Date Added: June 26 ,2015
  • Thoughts: Adult fantasy which is so hit or miss for me. Humans battle demons in the night, hoping to not get wiped out to extinction. Three survivors decide to go beyond the magic wards to try to save humanity.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep. This is a debut novel that is striking my fancy.

Heroes of the Valley by Jonathan Stroud

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: YA fantasy about a boy waking up a long since put to rest blood feud. Just not sounding like something I’ll want to read.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Orcs: Bad Blood by Stan Nicholls

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like a spin-off to a previous series. One that I don’t feel I would be too invested in.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Edge of Hunger by Rhyannon Byrd

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Paranormal romance. Both MC have the same ~sexy~ dreams of each other before meeting. They meet and have to defeat an enemy. I’m here for it.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Conclusion

I deleted 6 of 10 books, bringing my TBR to 1981. Not anywhere near manageable, but still at least 6 less. I am going to try to fit one of these into my TBR this month too, I think. I have four to choose from! Probably not The Host though. That one is so long. I’ll have to do that one over a vacay.

Also, all of my books were added June 26, 2015. Is this the day I created by GR account? Is there any way to check that? Someone let me know!

Are any of these on your TBR? Have you read any of them? Loved or hated them? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…
