Down the TBR Part 7!

You know guys, I’m really bad at this tbr thing. When last we left off, my TBR was at 1952. I started adding in all my arcs, and a few other books. My TBR is now at 1969. It went the wrong way! Ugh.

Anyway, let’s get this started and see if I can’t thin this out a bit.

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer

Alaska Twilight by Clleen Coble

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: I’m not so sure I want to read about a girl following a bear biologist around in Alaska.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Wow guys. This was the most I have deleted yet! I deleted 9/10 books! I really only kept One Perfect Gift because the MC is a nurse. I have to read it. I’ll probably save it for November/December though. Also, what was with all the Christmas books added in June? I wish I knew what I was thinking back then.

We are leaving my tbr at 1960. 8 more than last week. Here’s to hoping i won’t add any this week!

Have you read any of these books? What were your thoughts? Let me know!

Until next time..

adult, contemporary, mystery, Romance

Down the TBR Part 6!

I cannot believe another week has gone by! My whole week was messed up. Honestly, it’s been that way for about 3 weeks thanks to the Holidays. But this week I will get back into the normal routine and start working toward all of the goals I have set!

We are starting the TBR off at 1959. I did the opposite of what I was supposed to do and added four books to my TBR this week.

Don’t Look Back by Amanda Quick

Where There’s Smoke by Sandra Brown

  • Keep or Delete: Delete

  • Thoughts: A princess who is hiding her identity falls in love with a doctor in Africa. I think I would like this.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

The Things We do for Love by Kristin Hannah

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Chick Lit about a mother and daughter’s love and bond. I think my mom would like it, but it’s too adult chick-y for me.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

The Proposal by Mary Balogh

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Regency romance involving a widow and war hero. I can get behind that.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Wow! Okay, by TBR is ending at 1952! Getting so close to being under 1900! I deleted 7, which I think may be my most yet! All of my keeps honestly surprised me, especially the Danielle Steel. If it didn’t have a doctor as an MC, I probably would have deleted it. I’m a sucker for doctors and nurses in books! I had a lot of Sandra Brown, which I know my mom really likes. I feel like she would like all of these books. It’s so crazy to see how much my tastes have changed!

Have you read any of these? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time…

Down the TBR Part 5!

Ekk here we are again! A week later!

When last we left off, my TBR was at 1964. We are now at 1961 somehow. I did read one of the books I kept, but the numbers aren’t adding up. Who knows, man. I did read The Irish Christmas by Melody Carlson which was a keep but maybe should have been a delete. Oops lol.

Here are the next 10 on my TBR. Let’s see where we end up.

Charade by Sandra Brown

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Medical murder mystery! Sign me up. Also peep that this was written in 1994. I was 4 lol.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Divine Evil by Nora Roberts

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Suspenseful, romantic, murder mystery. I usually like all of these things but I’m not sure I want them together.

  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Survivor in Death by J.D. Robb

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015

  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Barefoot in the Sand by Roxanne St. Claire

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Crime, investigation, political twist.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Well, I still can’t figure out how my count got messed up. But we are ending at 1956! This was half and half, 5 keep and 5 delete. There are a lot of adult novels, so I’m not sure when I’ll get to those.

I think this month I’ll try to read two from this list. I’ll aim to read Grey by EL James and Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen!

I was doing so well on posting, then vanished. I’m sorry! My son was sick, I got the stomach bug (for 4 days!), and it’s the holidays. My mother-in-law is in town now! I promise I’ll get back on track with posting. I loved posting daily!

Until next time…

adult, contemporary, thriller, ya

Down the TBR Part 4!

Okay guys, I swear this is the last one this week! But I said I’d do them every Sunday, and it’s Sunday soo…

After this you can expect a ton of reviews! I’ve read some great and not-so-great books lately, so I’m excited to share my feelings with you over this holiday season!

Today my TBR is starting at 1970. So far I’ve cleared 18 books from my TBR. Not bad for a week! Here’s the next 10!

Christmas in my Heart by Joe Wheeler

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: A book of 14 Christmas stories. Not much info about any of them, but going by the cover, I’m not into it.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Vegan, Virgin, Valentine by Carolyn Mackler

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: YA contemporary. Sounds super cute!
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

An Irish Christmas by Melody Carlson

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Christmas story that includes deception and secrets. I can get behind this!
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

The Gift of Christmas Present by Melody Carlson

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: What’s with all the Christmas books in June? Ok so this girl finds out she’s adopted and goes searching for her bio family. Seems too adult/chick-lit for me.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Summer Breeze by Catherine Palmer and Gary Chapman

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Christian fiction about a marriage breaking down after one spouse gets jealous of the other’s attention after they are diagnosed with Diabetes. Yeah, I think I’ll pass.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

As Young as We Feel by Melody Carlson

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Four Lindas come together 47 years later to rekindle friendship. No thanks.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: I’m a Sarah Dessen fan, and this sounds great! About a girl whose mom disappears so she goes to live with family.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Summer romance in YA form. I love it.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Christmas Quilt by Thomas L. Davis

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Early life in the mountains. I don’t think this is for me.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

Hello, Darkness by Sandra Brown

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Thriller, killing, kidnapping. All the workings for a good book! I hope all of Sandra’s books live up to the hype I have!
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Here is where we end. I deleted 5, bringing my TBR to 1965. So a total of 23 deleted this week!

I don’t know why I had so many Christmas novel’s this post. I swear it’s not because Christmas is this week! Also I’m wondering how some of these even made it on my TBR to begin with.

It’s crazy to see how much my tastes have changed in almost 5 years. Then I was way more into chick lit and just dabbling in YA. Now I read almost exclusively YA fantasy – something that hasn’t graced my TBR yet! I was dipping my toes in with Sarah Dessen and Carolyn Mackler.

Ok, I swear, I’ll try not to post another of these until next Sunday! I have so many reviews to write – 11 I think?! But these posts are so addicting!

Have you read any of these? Do you think I should keep or toss them? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…

adult, contemporary, Memoir, mystery, thriller

Down the TBR Part 3!

I just really love these posts. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s just so calming to clear out this list. I even think my friend, Erin, is going to join in on the fun!

I was going to do a review today, I really was. But after work, I just was too tired to think about a review. I just wanted something simple and fun, so here we are!

My TBR is starting at 1976. Let’s see where we end up!

Grey by EL James

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Yep. I read all the 50 Shades books, so obviously this one is on the list. I mean, yeah, I’ll keep. Guilty pleasure?
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

While My Sister Sleeps by Barbara Delinsky

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Book about two sisters, one who suffers a heart attack and may never wake up. Seems too chick-lit for my tastes now.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This is like a chick-lit, cozy mystery mix. She is trying to help her dead aunt find a necklace. Just doesn’t seem all that interesting to me.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Body of Evidence by Patricia Cornwell

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Yes yes yes. Keep the crime novels coming my way. I read the first in this series and loved it so I’m good with continuing!
  • Keep or Delete: Keep!

High Water by Lynn Hightower

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Mystery book about a borderline(?) abusive father who might have killed the mom – until he turns up dead too. I’m into it.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

The Drowning Tree by Carol Goodman

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: This is another mystery, but the synopsis isn’t sticking out to me. I think I’ll let this one go.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

There’s No Place Like Here by Cecelia Ahern

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Ugh I don’t know about this one. At first it’s like, yes this girl finds missing people and I’m here for it. Then she disappears and ends up in some weird place all missing people go? That does not sound right up my alley.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete. I feel like I’d love the looking for people but absolutely hate the missing people place.

Let It Rain Coffee by Angie Cruz

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Plus for Latina author, but unfortunately the synopsis seemed too chick-lit for me. I just don’t do happy books well, apparently.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Serial killer. Cops try to find him. Victim’s family wants to take justice themselves. Sign me up please, ma’am.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep.

Meet Me at Emotional Baggage Claim by Lisa Scottoline

  • Date Added: June 27, 2015
  • Thoughts: Ok, there’s a cute dog on the cover so I already feel like this isn’t for me. I’m not a cute-dog-on-the-cover kinda girl. It looks like maybe a chick-lit book of short stories. No thanks.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Ok, so to recap. I kept 4 books and deleted 6. That brings my TBR to 1970. Making progress, guys!

My most surprising keep was High Water. Based on the cover I thought for sure it’d be a delete. I also learned I’m not into chick lit or happy books, but I’m very into murder. Who knew?!

Until next time…

adult, contemporary, fantasy, mystery, thriller

Down the TBR Part 2!

Ok, I was super excited to do the first installment of this series. I got done, felt so accomplished, and just wanted to keep going! I feel like this is going to be a great way for me to clear out all this stuff I have clogging up my list so it can be functional!

Also, I know it isn’t Sunday. I had this post all done and ready to go, but my kid got tubes in his ear today (Thursday) and I just don’t have it in me to do another post. I’m tired, he’s tired. We’re just ready for bed. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite posts though, so you may see a lot more of them. Let’s dive right in!

Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: I’ve heard alot about Sherrilyn Kenyon. I was kind of immediately turned off by the fact the MC was 14. I feel like I’m just too old for that. The friends trying to kill him sounds great, then it just kind of goes downhill for me.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Face of Betrayal by Lis Wiehl

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Crime novel. Features an FBI agent. Count me in!
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Burning Alive by Shannon K. Butcher

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Paranormal romance. Boy and girl come together to fight off darkness. Feels very meh.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: My mom is a huge Sophie fan, and we don’t really like the same books. Right off the bat I’m having reservations. After reading synopsis/reviews, doesn’t seem like my cup of tea.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

Sunny Chandler’s Return by Sandra Brown

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: I must have added this one because of my mom too. Okay, but this sounds kind of good, and steamy. So why not?
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Tough Customer by Sandra Brown

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Ok, another Sandra Brown. Completely different from the one above. This sounds like a crime/stalker novel so I’m all in.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep.

44 Charles Street by Danielle Steel

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Reading the synopsis was just Eh. This was another I added because of my mom, but I think I’ll pass.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This seems interesting. Married woman sees the one who got away and starts questioning everything.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Sandra Brown Compliation

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: The only one that strikes by fancy is the last book, Send No Flowers. So I’ll probably delete this, but add that one. So it’s a draw.
  • Keep or Delete: Draw.

Visions in White by Nora Roberts

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: I wasn’t too into the idea of four parts of a wedding planning company finding love. Just seems, I don’t know. Eh?
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

Conclusion

My TBR today started at 1981. I kept 4 books, deleted 5, and had a draw on one – deleted the compilation but added one of the 3 back. So That brings my TBR to 1978.

I wasn’t expecting to keep any of these books, really. Except the crime one. I was surprised at how good the Sandra Brown and Emily Giffin books sounded. Hopefully they will live up to their synopsis!

Can’t wait for another edition of this with you guys!

Until next time…

Down the TBR Part 1

So I saw this over at Devour Books with Dana and thought it was a perfect idea for me. My TBR dates back to 2015 and has 1988 books on it. Yep. Almost 2K. Too many. My tastes have changed a lot since 2015, so time for me to go down the TBR and see what to keep and what to delete!

So here’s what you do. Go to your Goodreads TBR shelf. Sort in ascending order. Take the first 5, 10, however many books you decide to do. Read the synopsis. Decide to keep or delete.

I have a lot, so I’ll do 10 a week, every Sunday. I will also try to fit at least one from this list in my TBR each month, starting in January! Yay for fun challenges!

The Host by Stephanie Meyer

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: 100% added this because I loved Twilight around this time period. This still sounds good, but the 620 pages are a little daunting. It would be hard to read for a book battle.
  • Keep or Delete: I’ll keep. The synopsis still sounds great.

Hungry For Your Love by Lori Perkins

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This has super mixed reviews, but the prospect of zombie smut is somehow piquing my interests.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep – but reluctantly. I want to see what the zombie smut is about, but I’m scared this will be a DNF.

Hearts at Stake by Alyxandra Harvey

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like a typical teenager-turned-vampire story. Nothing in the synopsis stuck out at me and made me want to read it.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Micro by Michael Crichton and Richard Preston

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Parts of this sound great. The whole microorganisms appearing and trying to find a cure for them. But parts turn me off, like the robots, stuck in the wilderness. I don’t feel like there will be enough medicine/science/biology to keep me interested.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like a spinoff of Supernatural. MC finds her mom dead, hot brothers save her from demon, tell her she has to join secret society to help kill demons. Not really my cup of tea anymore.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Storm of Visions by Christina Dodd

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Eh. Sounds like a typical PNR series. Boy sees girl. Boy wants girl. Girl says no, finds out boy is paranormal, ends up saying yes. Plus there’s some bad reviews that are kind of turning me off.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete.

The Painted Man by Peter V. Brett

  • Date Added: June 26 ,2015
  • Thoughts: Adult fantasy which is so hit or miss for me. Humans battle demons in the night, hoping to not get wiped out to extinction. Three survivors decide to go beyond the magic wards to try to save humanity.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep. This is a debut novel that is striking my fancy.

Heroes of the Valley by Jonathan Stroud

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: YA fantasy about a boy waking up a long since put to rest blood feud. Just not sounding like something I’ll want to read.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Orcs: Bad Blood by Stan Nicholls

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: This sounds like a spin-off to a previous series. One that I don’t feel I would be too invested in.
  • Keep or Delete: Delete

Edge of Hunger by Rhyannon Byrd

  • Date Added: June 26, 2015
  • Thoughts: Paranormal romance. Both MC have the same ~sexy~ dreams of each other before meeting. They meet and have to defeat an enemy. I’m here for it.
  • Keep or Delete: Keep

Conclusion

I deleted 6 of 10 books, bringing my TBR to 1981. Not anywhere near manageable, but still at least 6 less. I am going to try to fit one of these into my TBR this month too, I think. I have four to choose from! Probably not The Host though. That one is so long. I’ll have to do that one over a vacay.

Also, all of my books were added June 26, 2015. Is this the day I created by GR account? Is there any way to check that? Someone let me know!

Are any of these on your TBR? Have you read any of them? Loved or hated them? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time…
